Paypal "Type 2" Forms
Setting up your website template:

Step 1:
EDIT FLASH ANIMATION: | Click for more details
Open the "flash.txt" file with Notepad or a text editor and edit "Your Website Title" with your name or company name. Be sure not to delete the "logo=". Edit the "&slogan= Optional slogan or phrase can go here..." with your slogan, or leave this line blank. Be sure not to delete the "&slogan=". Edit the three "&textlines" with phrases for the homepage animation. This will update the Flash logo on all pages. If you wish to use a graphic logo, there are instructions later in this document.

Edit the "Welcome" text for the "var LogoText" in the "header.js" and "header_home.js" with your site name. To test this, make the "var showflash" a "no" and open the "index.html" and "about.htm" in your web browser. This is the text that will show in non-Flash browsers. Change the "var showflash" back to "yes" in the .js header files when you are done.

INCLUDED FLASH DETECT - HEADER DETECT: | Click for more details
The "header.js" and "header_home.js" include a browser detection script for non-Flash browsers and devices. An option for testing and to show either text, or an image in non-Flash browsers is included in the "header.js" and "header_home.js". Click above for details.

HOMEPAGE SLIDER
The image sliding on the "index.html" can be replaced. Edit the "slider.jpg" in the "flash" folder with your 1400 x 125 .jpg image.

INCLUDED MOBILE DETECT: | Click for more details
The homepage Flash slider includes a browser detection script. A static image, the "slider.jpg" in the "flash" folder will display in non-Flash browsers and mobile devices like iPad.

NO FLASH SETUP: To have no Flash in the template, edit the "var showflash" in the "slider.js" to "no". See "USING A GRAPHIC LOGO" below.

Step 2:
EDIT COPYRIGHT: | Click for more details
Open the "copyright.js" file in Notepad or any text editor and edit "Your Company" with your website name. This will update the footer info on all pages.

Step 3:
EDIT CONTACT INFO: | Click for more details
Open the "contact.js" file in Notepad or any text editor and change the company name, address, phone and fax numbers and e-mail address (Edit the e-mail in 2 places). This will update contact info on the "contact" page. This info is in a .js file so search engines won't see your e-mail and you'll get less spam.

Step 4:
EDIT THE CONTACT AND QUOTES FORM:
If you want to use only e-mail on the contact page you can remove the contact form from the "contact.htm" between the comment tags.

Click for current info on setting up the template forms.

Click for info on adding more fields to the forms.

Click for changing form sizes or colors.

Because of the complexity of setting up the quote form, there are notes in the "quotes.htm" to help you cut and paste to add new form fields. The form will work with most contact form scripts however you will need help files or a sample form from the script you intend to use. Most form elements work the same way from script to script, however the hidden values usually vary. You may want to consider editing the entire page in Notepad instead of a wysiwyg editor.

Step 5:
REPLACE THE GALLERY PICTURES: | Click for more details | Thumbnail Help
The best way to setup the pictures in the gallery is not to actually edit the HTML pages and change the pictures on each individual page. The fastest way is to simply replace the pictures in the "gallery" folder with your own by overwriting the files that are in there now and using the same generic names.

In the "gallery" folder, replace all "Fgallery" pictures with full size photos. Replace all "gallery" pictures with your thumbnails. Thumbnails are now 70 x 70 pixels, and Fgallery images are 500 x 333, however you can make your images any size that you prefer.

IMAGE VIEWER OPTIONS: | Click for more details
You can change some options for the gallery image viewer page (image-viewer.htm) by editing the pop-closeup.js in Notepad. Options include new browser window, or popup for the viewer.

Step 6:
EDIT PAGES: | Software choices | Notepad Editing
Edit the text on all pages with your website information. You can use EW, Frontpage, Dreamweaver, GoLive, any wysiwyg HTML editor or a text editor like Notepad. Take care not to delete any of the HTML tags that surround the text.

Step 7:
EDIT TITLES, DESCRIPTIONS AND KEYWORDS: | Click for more details
Open each of the HTML pages and change the titles (at the very top of the page) and also the description and the keywords with your product or service info. You can edit one page and copy and paste to the other pages. Be careful to only change what's inside the "" so you don't disturb the html code. Page titles are important so your site will get a good listing at Google, Yahoo!, Bing and other search engines. Click for optimization help.

Step 8:
UPLOAD: | Click for more details
Upload the pages on to your hosting company's server using ftp software or Windows Explorer or your control panel. Be sure to upload the "picts" and "flash" and "gallery" folders and all files in these folders.

Options:

USING A GRAPHIC LOGO:
To replace the Flash logo with a graphic logo: edit the "header.js" and "header_home.js". Change the "var showflash" to a "no". Change the "var logotype" from "text" to "graphic" (all lowercase). In the "picts" folder you will find a graphic called "logo.jpg". Edit this graphic with your logo image. The "logo.jpg" is now 600 pixels wide by 60 pixels high. You can make this image any size you would like. Edit the "var logospace" in the "header.js" and "header_home.js" to move your logo up or down on the pages.

paypal.htm PAYPAL PAYMENT PAGE:
This template includes a Paypal payment page called "paypal.htm". Edit the "paypal@your-web-domain.com" in this page with your Paypal e-mail and you can use this page to accept custom payments by sending clients a link to this page and having them fill in any amount on the payment page.

SETTING UP THE SLIDESHOW PICTURES: | Click for more details
The slideshow is currently setup to display all "Fgallery" pictures in the gallery folder. If you would like to add or remove pictures from the slideshow, open the slideshow.htm in Notepad and look for the "EDIT THIS AREA" note. Copy and paste to add new pictures to the list, or delete lines to remove pictures. You can also set the AutoPlay speed. Look for "var rotate_delay = 3000".

FONTS: | Click for more details
You can change your font colors and sizes by editing the "coolstyle.css" with a text editor. You can change the font sizes in the "coolstyle.css" file. Change the "TABLE" px size to change the copy on all pages. Change the "title" px size to change all the title sizes.

CHANGING LINKS / ADDING TO THE MENU: | Click for more details
You can change the names on the menu buttons like "About Us" or "Contact" to other page names by editing the "menu.js". This template includes the following 4 menus:

menu.js (All pages top right menu)
menu_lower.js (All pages bottom right menu)
menu_gallery.js (Gallery pages image viewer and slideshow)
menu_pictures.js (All subpages, shows the 3 images on the right)

If you are editing only the name showing on the menu, edit only the name and not the name with the ".htm" after it unless you want the page link to change. Whatever you change in any of the menus will update every page on the website. You can add more links to pages by copying a button in one of the menu files and pasting it right below itself. Be sure to back up your files before you edit them. Click here for more menu editing details.

ADDING PAGES: | Click for more details
You can add pages to your website by copying and pasting any one of the pages and renaming it to whatever you need. You can then add text links on the other pages, or add links in any of the menus.

CHANGING THE GRAPHICS/PICTURES: | Click for more details
You can replace the page pictures with your own. The pictures are now 140 x 280 pixels and 140 x 140 but you can use any size picture you want and the pages will size them to fit automatically. Each page has it's own picture which is named according to the page it's on. There are three thumbnails called "sidebar-pic1?.jpg" 1-3 (70 x 70 pixels). You will find all pictures in the "picts" folder.

PAGE HEIGHTS:
So all your pages will maintain a standard height a "pageheight" class is included in the "coolstyle.css". Edit this height to any height you need.

SITE MAP PAGE:
The "site_map.htm" is linked from the index.html. It is best not to remove this link so search engines can find your site map and properly list all your pages when users search at major search engines.
